How to Apply
Once you have confirmed that your organization is eligible to participate in the Speakers in the Humanities program, selected a lecture, and you and the Speaker have decided on a mutually agreeable time and date for the presentation, you are ready to complete the application process.
Online Speakers in the Humanities application
- Applications must be received within eight (8) weeks of your proposed lecture date.
- Speakers events must be FREE and open to the general public.
Administrative Fees: Fees are based according to the number of events held in a calendar year. Organizations are allowed to host four (4) events per year. If your organization is new to hosting Speakers events, proof of non-profit status is required (501c3 or 990 Federal Tax forms are accepted).
First Application : $35
Second Application: $50
Third Application: $75
Fourth Application: $75
After submitting the online application, you will be promted to submit payment for the application fee either via Paypal (preferred), or mail by check.
Funds will NOT be awarded to applications:
- Arriving less than eight (8) weeks in advance of the proposed lecture date
- Arriving incomplete
- From host organizations who have already held four (4) Speakers lectures during the calendar year
- Without the correct processing fee and correct proof of not-for-profit status (501c3 or 990 Federal Tax forms are accepted)
- With limited audience outreach planned, including host organizations that cannot commit to gathering an audience of at least 40 people (20 in rural areas)
- For members-only organizations or events
- For lectures that are to be used as part of any fundraising activity or an admission fee is charged
Notification
Within three (3) weeks of submitting your application, both you and your requested Speaker will be notified of the Council's decision via email.
Please remember that funding is not guaranteed. Speakers in the Humanities is a competitive program, and the Council may not be able to fulfill all requests.
