Evolving Grants: A Statement from the Executive Director
Spring 2012
Dear Friends,
The Council will announce, later this spring, some broad changes to our grant-making process that are meant to serve the field of applicant organizations while also reflecting the exigencies of funding that face the Council (along with so many of its applicants). Currently we are in discussions about how best to offer a yet more streamlined method of grant making, but I can offer some information preliminarily. First, our traditional values of access, equity, efficiency and transparency will continue to guide us here as in all our endeavors. Next, we’d ultimately like our applicants to be able to apply for Council funds by using one single online application for several kinds and sizes of grants. Our hope is to make some awards each year at a higher level than our current maximum ($3000), with decisions made on a rolling rather than a deadline basis. In this way we’d like to combine one of the most user-friendly features of our “Mini” grant program, the rolling deadline, with the ability to give out larger grants as well. Please watch for an announcement in spring, 2012, that will introduce the new procedure and invite applications.
Sincerely,
--Sara Ogger, Ph.D., Executive Director
