$2,500 awarded to The Research Foundation of SUNY on behalf of SUNY New Paltz, Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art for “The Upstate New York Olympics Exhibition Catalogue”
This project involved the creation of an artist-designed catalogue to accompany the exhibit The Upstate New York Olympics. Artist Tim Davis sees his work as a response to his changing sense of his relationships, as a man and as an artist, to key aspects of contemporary culture. This project seeks to bring attention to the act of performance art, as well as the specific upstate New York locations.
The catalogue includes photos and a statement by the artist, as well as essays by Dorsky Museum Curator Brian Wallace, Austin Kelley, Ph.D. and Thomas Bartscherer
“The events are all site specific using only resources found in the area to perform the events. The viewer cannot help but place themselves in some of these acts as many resemble childlike boredom, using found objects to create a game.”
