Exhibit - Saving Our Liberty & Confirming Our Independence: Rensselaer County in the War of 1812

September 15 - December 22, 7:00 PM

WPA era mural of Uncle Sam and the War of 1812 The Rensselaer County Historical Society honors the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, with this new exhibit concentrating on the personal histories of Rensselaer County individuals who were involved with this often forgotten war. In 1812, America was a young nation facing challenges to our liberty. Through art, objects, letters and other personal accounts this exhibit explores how the County's citizens prepared for conflict, responded to the war at home, deployed troops from the banks of the Hudson and advanced New York into becoming the Empire State.
