Everardus Bogardus was the second minister of the Dutch Reformed Church (now Collegiate Church) of the New Netherland era. During his sixteen-year tenure, he played a significant role in the formation of both his church and the Dutch settlement. In this lecture, Willem Frijhoff will discuss Reverend Bogardus's life and his contributions to religious and cultural life in New Amsterdam. Historian Firth Haring Fabend will then join Frijhoff in a concluding dialogue.
