How do I apply for an internship?
Complete our internship application form here. Attach your application form in an email along with your resume to nych@nyhumanities.org with the internship position title in the email's subject.
No, internships are not paid, however, interns are able to gain valuable experience working with a state wide non-profit organization.
We understand that participants may have a part time job in addition to their internship and we try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your work and/or school schedule. We do ask, however, that you are able to commit around 4 to 12 hours a week.
Internships usually last 4 to 5 months, with the exception of summer internships which last approximately 3 months. Start and end dates will be determined on a per case basis. Please reference our internship listings for preferred dates.
Who can participate in your internship program?
We accept both college and post-college interns.
You do not need to be enrolled as a student to participate in our internship program.

Our interns work directly with our staff and program partners, who will help guide and mentor them in different areas within their given program.
The majority, or in some cases all, of the work you will do with us will take place in our Lower Manhattan office. While you may have the opportunity to do site visits with your particular program, our internships are in-office positions.
How do I find what internships are available?

Should I submit any additional materials, such as a writing sample?
We do not require any additional materials other than a completed application form and resume, however, we may ask you for a writing sample post interview.
Can I apply for more than one internship?
Yes, if you are interested in two internship programs, you may apply for both.
Please note that we take dual internships on a case by case basis.
How many interns do you accept per period?
We have between 2 and 4 interns working with us on average for 8 hours a week.
Do you conduct interviews prior to selection?
Yes, if we are interested in you as a possible candidate for an internship position, we will contact you to schedule an interview. If you are not able to come into our New York City office, we offer phone or Skype interviews as well.
